What exactly does the web migration service include? +

The web migration process includes transferring your website and your email accounts from the servers of your old hosting provider to our servers. The process is carried out in such a way that, as the website administrator, you will not even notice that your site is running on the new server—except for the improvement in performance and loading speed.

We move whatever you tell us to, which is why we will ask you for a list containing the websites you want to migrate and the email accounts you want to move, along with some additional details so we can start the migration.

Are old emails migrated too, or just the email accounts? +

Yes, if you request it, we can also migrate the email accounts with their content so you don't lose any emails.

For the migration of email account content, we need the password of the mailboxes to avoid changing it—this way you won't have to reconfigure your connected email clients (for example, your mobile device).

Will the migration process affect the operation of my website? +

No, in 99% of cases there is no downtime during the migration process.

In the case of online stores or e-commerce sites, we usually ask for permission to enable maintenance mode in order to avoid synchronization problems with orders due to DNS propagation of the domain at the time of the change.

When properly carried out, the web migration process does not involve any change in the functionality of your site, and visitors will not even notice it.

How long does the migration take to complete? +

The migration time depends entirely on the number of websites and email accounts we need to migrate. The size of the websites and mailboxes also plays a big role. Another factor to consider is the migration queue that our technical support department currently has.

Remember that we migrate hundreds of websites and mailboxes every day, and except for scheduled or urgent migrations, free migrations are carried out strictly in order of request.

What types of websites can you migrate? (WordPress, PrestaShop, Joomla, etc.) +

We can migrate any type of website that can run on our hosting plans. Keep in mind that if your site is a custom development, we may need some additional data and specific documentation to complete the migration, but we can still do it without any problem.

What happens with my domain(s) during the migration? +

Yes, with domains we have two possible approaches:

Domain transfer to us: We can transfer your domain over to SNWhiteHosting. This can be done either before or after the migration of your website and email accounts. Whether it's better to do it before or after depends entirely on who your previous hosting provider is and their policies when a client leaves.

Pointing the domain to our servers: We can simply point your existing domain to our servers and leave it with your current registrar. Depending on your situation, we'll recommend one of the two approaches.

Is it necessary to provide access to my old hosting account for the migration? +

Yes, it is essential. Otherwise, we won't be able to access the backup of your website. If, for any operational or privacy reason, you don't want to give us access to your old provider's control panel, you can instead provide us with a complete backup of your website (including files and database). With this method, however, we won't be able to migrate your email accounts, and there is also a small chance that your site may experience downtime during the migration.

What happens with my current hosting during the migration? +

Once the migration and corresponding checks are completed, we will notify you. It is then your responsibility to cancel your old hosting plan following your provider's procedure. Many people mistakenly believe changing hosting providers works like mobile number portability—but it doesn't. If you don't actively cancel your old hosting, they will continue to bill you. SNWhiteHosting does not have the authority to cancel your hosting plan with another provider.

What if something goes wrong during the migration? +

Don't worry—we handle thousands of migrations every week and are used to encountering issues, but we always solve them. Before confirming that your migration is completed, we thoroughly review everything ourselves. Still, we recommend that clients double-check their migrated websites, since they know them better than we do and may notice things we might miss.

How does migration affect my website's SEO? +

A properly performed migration does not negatively affect your website's SEO rankings. Furthermore, by moving to SNWhiteHosting you'll be hosted on LiteSpeed Web Server or Nginx, two high-performance web servers that ensure fast response times for both Google and your visitors.

Can I continue updating my website during the migration? +

We ask that you don't make changes during the actual migration process to prevent updates from staying on the old hosting. This only applies to the actual migration period, not the waiting list for free migrations. To avoid data loss, we will notify you before we begin and again once the migration is completed and ready for your review.

Does the migration process include SSL/HTTPS setup? +

No. During the migration, we strictly move what is already there—we don't update or modify anything. This means that while we can install an SSL certificate on your hosting if you request it, we won't change your site's configuration from HTTP to HTTPS. These types of changes are handled by our Web Applications Department and are subject to a separate service quote.

Does the migration include updates for outdated versions? +

No. During the migration, we simply move the content from your previous hosting provider as-is. If you require CMS maintenance plans or a complete update of your site's components and plugins, we can provide this service, but it is also handled by the Web Applications Department under a quoted plan.

How can I verify everything works correctly after the migration? +

The best way is to use your website and explore it thoroughly:

  • As a visitor, browse through your site normally.
  • As an administrator, log in to your admin panel and check everything inside.

We strongly recommend carefully reviewing your website before closing the migration case to avoid future issues.

What happens with my current settings and plugins? +

During the migration, we move everything hosted on your old server to the new server. This includes all existing configurations and plugins.

Can I schedule the migration for a specific time? +

Scheduling migrations does not apply to free migrations. However, we recommend contacting our sales team to discuss your case. If at a given time we have a lighter migration workload, we may be able to schedule your migration for an approximate date and time (though not an exact slot).

Will the migration affect my SSL certificate? +

If you have a paid SSL certificate, we will migrate it along with your website or email accounts.

If you use a free SSL certificate (such as Let's Encrypt), we will provide you with a new free SSL certificate during the migration and leave it active on your website.
